PATCH PLACEMENT AND BELT TYING

NAPA TAEKWONDO ACADEMY (N.T.A.) PATCH:

Presented to all students in the Program.

WORLD TAEKWONDO FEDERATION (W.T.F.) PATCH:

Presented to the student of the month.

KOREAN-AMERICAN FLAGS PATCH:

Presented to students who demonstrate the ability to tie their belts correctly.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT PATCH:

Depending on which school the student attends, this patch is awarded to students who receive all 2's, 3's, 4's, A's, B's, C's or S's and G's on both sides of their report cards. Middle school and up must pass all classes with a minimum B+ average overall.

OUTSTANDING ATTENDANCE PATCH:

This patch is awarded at the end of June and at the end of December each year. Students must have been active in the Program for a minimum of 6 months while missing an average of less than 1 class per month (no more than 5 classes per 6 month period). While the Wednesday Advanced youth sparring classes do count toward a student's testing eligibility, they are not included for this award.

TAEKWONDO EAGLE PATCH:

An indomitable spirit award presented to the student who demonstrates
perseverance and a personal effort above and beyond what would normally be expected (usually earned as a result of tournament participation).

GOLD STARS:

A star is placed under the patch upon the repeated earning of it.

RED STAR:

A Red star placed under the N.T.A. patch represents the Youth student of the year.

NOTE: ONLY AUTHORIZED PATCHES ARE TO BE PLACED ON THE UNIFORM

PROCEDURE FOR TYING THE BELT

The belt is tied in a square knot. For those not acquainted with knot tying, this will clarify the procedure. First, fold the belt in half to determine the center and place the center point at the front of the waist (E). Then carry each end around the back (F) and continue to the front (G), and there tie the knot. From (G), draw the overlapping end of the belt up between the shirt and the belt (H) and complete the knot as shown (J-K). It is considered a matter of pride for the ends of the belt to be equal length after the square knot is neatly tied (K, L).
